The Prelude
The Call To Worship
L. Come, gather round, for God calls us to become as little children.
P. We come as children of God.
L. Come, show respect, for God makes a covenant with us before we can even speak.
P. We come as children of the Covenant.
L. Worship and bow before our God who formed us in our mother's womb.
P. We praise the God of creation who formed us in his own image.
The Hymn Child of Blessing, Child of Promise No. 498
(The Presbyterian Hymnal)
The Prayer of Confession (Unison)
O Lord, our God, the world is too much with us and we are
led astray by every new fad that catches our interest. Too
seldom have we been faithful to our Baptismal vows and too
often we have failed to teach your commands and follow your
precepts. Forgive us and set us aright, lest we cause one of your
children to stumble and be left out of your eternal reward.
We plead the name of Jesus who lived to show us the Way and
died to pay for our shortcomings. Amen.
The Assurance of Pardon
L. God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that those who believe in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
P. Glory be to God who gives us life.
The Gloria "To God Be the Glory" (verse 1) No. 485
(The Presbyterian Hymnal)

The Christmas Creed (Unison)
I believe in God the creator and giver of life,
who sent His Son, our Lord, to be born at
Christmas. As He is our Savior, I believe it
is my responsibility to carry His message in
my person and behavior, and with the Church
universal relate His Gospel so the He may be
born in the hearts of all the people of the earth.
I believe in the love and mercy of His Father,
and in the sustaining comfort of His Holy Spirit,
and with their help, the coming of His kingdom on earth. Amen.
The Presentation of Religious Awards (available through PRAY)

L. Almighty God we come before you with praise and thanksgiving;
for the good world, our home; for human living, which we cherish;
for the work of shaping young lives on the model of Jesus our Lord.
P. Lord, accept our prayers of gratitude.
L. We thank you for our families; for living together and eating together;
for family amusements and family pleasures.
P. For your many blessings, O Lord, give us grateful hearts.
L. We praise you for our children; for their energy and curiosity;
for their brave play and their startling frankness; for their sudden sympathies.
P. Lord, accept our prayers of gratitude.
L. Holy God, we lift to you the young; bless their high hopes; their irreverence
toward worn out values; their search for freedom; and their solemn vows.
P. For your many blessings, O Lord, give us grateful hearts,
most of all for your Son, Jesus Christ, who lived and died, and lives
again for our salvation. May we be faithful in serving Him. Amen.
